Lernlabor has
three main areas of focus
We provide young people with the skills, tools and support structures to strengthen their active citizenship and participation in democratic life.
We run local and international projects, co-designed by young people, that engage with issues that are relevant to youth.
From our local climbing projects in Berlin, to international expeditions in Norway, Spain and Ukraine, Outdoor Education is one of our core activities.
We train outdoor leaders and cooperate with professional outdoor educators and guides to offer a wide of activities for all levels of experience, ranging from novice to advanced.
We organise local and international residencies for emerging artists in addition to training courses for youth workers and educators focusing on art and culture as a tool for non-formal education and youth work.
Our goal is for these three areas to complement each other synergistically through forging connections between grassroots initiatives at the local level, educational cooperation at the international level, and the sphere of policymaking.
Threshold Dance - Six-week movement&dance program with Aaron Lang
"In this 6-week course we will meet once per week to explore individual and group movement. By guiding improvisational scores and physical awareness and conditioning exercises, I want to offer a space in which we have time to develop a shared vocabulary and a culture of exploration and trust. I see dance as an expanded threshold, a devotional practice through which we go from one place to another, but also where we can find rest within each other. Some days we will go outdoors to explore site specific tasks or scores that relate to the environment, which come from my artistic research. No prior knowledge is needed, just curiosity and respect. As part of Fashion Revolution Week 2025, we invite you to take part in a creative, hands-on workshop that challenges fast fashion and celebrates sustainable making. This event is part of a global movement advocating for fairer, cleaner, and more transparent fashion industry.
Join us for "Act. Create. Transform: A Make-a-thon for Fashion Revolution" where you’ll learn to transform second-hand T-shirts into unique knit bags. Whether you’re an experienced knitter or have never picked up needles before, all skill levels are warmly welcome!
We’ll start by showing you how to make your own yarn from recycled textiles, then guide you step-by-step in knitting a playful, practical bag you can take home. All materials are provided, but feel free to bring along any old clothes or fabric scraps you’d like to incorporate into your creation.
This workshop is led by Geo, a Berlin-based textile artist and maker known for her DIY spirit and unique ability to reimagine forgotten fabrics into something new. Her work explores the intersection of art, sustainability, and personal expression – and she’s excited to share it with you!
To participate, registration is required through a Google Form. This allows us to manage group sizes, provide materials, and create an inclusive and engaging experience for all participants.

Renew, Reuse, Redesign brought together Berliners for an afternoon dedicated to sustainable fashion, upcycling, and creative reuse. The event combined a hands-on workshop, clothing swap, documentary screening, collage-making, and community discussion. Together, we created a space to explore both practical and imaginative ways to give clothes a second life and reflect on the impact of fast fashion.
The highlight of the day was the visible mending workshop led by Carolyn, an artist and activist who collaborates with grassroots creative climate-action groups to raise awareness about the damaging effects of the fashion industry. A passionate advocate for fashion systems that value creativity, craft, heritage, and community over profit, Carolyn introduced us to the art of visible mending. She taught simple hand-stitching techniques and showed us how to transform old, unused clothes into something personal, expressive, and wearable. Beyond gaining practical skills, participants connected in a warm, supportive atmosphere - sitting together, sharing stories, and opening up thoughtful discussions. It was more than just a workshop; it was a moment of community, care, and collective creativity.

PHYTO-SOMATIC DANCE PARTY
What is inside of us? This workshop is a mixture of comparative microbiology and a dance party. We will relax, move, and sweat. Drawing on phyto-somatic and folk approaches to dance, we will look for new sources of personal and collective movement and relatedness. Hands-on exercises and guided improvisation will support a deeper awareness of cellular intelligence and a transgressive sense of community. Dance and music will serve as tools to swell out beyond our bodily contours, becoming a boundless community of pulses, waves, and flows.

From 2–8 March, young people from Germany and Georgia came together in Gerswalde for a week-long youth mobility focused on environmental sustainability and youth participation. The program used creative activities, outdoor learning, and intercultural exchange to encourage meaningful conversations and motivate young people to get involved. Participants explored how youth can take an active role in creating more sustainable communities.
The sessions were practical and engaging - featuring games, team challenges, storytelling, and video-making. One highlight was the creation of short films about the Sustainable Development Goals. In small groups, participants planned, filmed, and shared their own messages about environmental topics that matter to them. This hands-on process gave them space to express their ideas, work as a team, and learn new skills in a creative way.
Outside the sessions, participants also had time to enjoy informal moments - cooking together, sharing cultural traditions, playing games, and relaxing as a group. These shared experiences helped build trust and friendship across borders. A guided reflection process gave them space to think about what they learned, how they felt during different parts of the program, and how they want to apply these insights in their daily lives and communities. This final step encouraged self-awareness and helped participants carry the impact of the experience forward beyond the mobility.

It was a very meaningful experience 🤝❤
Climb it UP – Climbing for Inclusion brought together curious beginners and experienced climbers for an afternoon of connection, movement, and learning.
Led by trainer Jules Knight, participants were introduced to the Climb it UP project and the idea of inclusive climbing. Together we warmed up, got to know each other, and explored safe falling techniques, basic climbing movements, and how to engage both hands and feet with confidence.
We also learned practical climbing knowledge – from using equipment safely to tying the figure-eight knot. Everyone had the chance to try climbing, support one another on the wall, and celebrate diversity in a welcoming and empowering space. The energy was amazing—so much curiosity, encouragement, and joy. Thank you to everyone who came and helped create such a welcoming space.

Invitation for International Youth Exchange: The project ‘CreActivity: Act To Create, Create to Act’ will explore creativity as a tool for personal development and social change.
The first part of the project will focus on unblocking the creative mind and exploring creative tools such as writing, performance, photography, video, collage, and stop-motion.
In the second part, we will investigate what social action is, what we really care about, and how we can use our creativity to collectively communicate a meaningful message.
Project objectives:
-to empower youth to use their creativity to express themselves and communicate about topics that matter to them
-to improve well-being and use creativity as a tool for self discovery and personal development
-to facilitate discussion on social topics and learn how to take action on important issues
Accommodation, food, and travel costs will be fully covered by the Erasmus+ program.

On December 5th, we hosted "Explore, Share, Change" at Thinkfarm Berlin — a warm and lively youth participation event filled with creativity, dialogue, and connection. The evening began with informal networking, postcard-making, VR learning games, and a cozy board game corner. We introduced the project "Shaping the Future", celebrated International Volunteers Day, and reflected on the power of local volunteering.
Through an engaging workshop with Juanita Olaya Garcia, we explored non-verbal communication and social norms. Later, Seila Fernández Arconada led a dynamic discussion on transdisciplinary collaboration for climate action. The night concluded with an interactive cooking workshop led by Wellesley Boboc and a festive vegetarian dinner- building community, sharing ideas, and shaping new connections.
